For 0-18 month olds

- use simple words, lots of repetition and exaggerated facial expressions

For 18-36 month olds

- encourage child to use gestures when talking to gain a better understanding of what they are saying

For 36 month- 5 year olds

- introduce pretend play using toys, Set them up in a circle and talk to them or have a tea party
