Hey I was just wondering, I know alot of people are doing their diploma while working at a centre. I was just curious about how you get your practical hours in for each age group. Say you work in the Preschool room at a centre, how do you get hours in working with 0-2 year olds?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Macoola

Most centres I have worked in swap people around (so whoever is in 0-2 will go take your place and you hers) or give the people studying the hours for prac when they have extra staff to replace them in the room that they originally work in.

Hi Macoola,

I am working at a kindergarten and also studying diploma in children's services. I am currently on placement at the centre I usually work at but next year have to do placement with under 3s. I have been told that I need to work these hours on my days off, or during the holidays. I guess I am lucky I don't work full time. I don't know how the girls who work full time are going to manage it. At least we are lucky enough to have school holidays off.

Good luck with your studies..

Jules.
