Applying for jobs, would it better to go into child care centres where you live and hand in your resume and all to them, if any vacancies come up or emailing them?!

I would personally go and hand them in... That way you can go and have a quick look at the centre and if possible meet the director themselves. The more centres that have your resume, the more chances of getting a call back from one of them. Just make sure you include a cover letter that gives your details etc.
