Describe the appropriate and safe use of restraints
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I am not sure what restraints they refer to?
I am doing a bridging unit and therefore do not have any work books to look this up.
I have answered as in car restraints but now i wonder if they mean restraints as in for a rocker and high chair.
if so, is that 5 point harness for rockers and high chairs, untangled, correctly fitted, children cant undo, or trap their fingers in. only use as required and as needed.
My answer to car restraints is as follows -
Ensure the restraint is approved and meets Australian standards. The child needs to be correctly strapped into the capsule/seat with a 5 point harness until they move into a booster seat at around the age of 4 years. The restraint needs to be correct for their weight, size and height.
The car restraint needs to be seated in the rear seat, with the only exception being if all seats are being used by younger children a child above 4 can sit in the front seat with a booster.
Less than 6 months old need to be properly strapped into a rearward facing car restraint.
6months – til 4 years of age need to be in rearward facing restraint that allows extended rearward facing or a forward facing seat.
Children ages 4-7 years approx require a forward facing or booster seat.

Just unsure what "restraints" they refer too - if anyone has done this unit recently that could advise that would be great.
