Hi Everyone :)
Can someone please help me ? Why is non-mandatory information collected on enrolment forms ?
I have come up with reasons such as to help the centre establish a routine for the child, make the child feel comfortable away from familiar surroundings and help the staff at the centre with the care and wellbeing of the child. Just wondering if some of the non-madatory information is collected and reported to certain organisations for extra funding, support etc and if this would be a reasonable answer also ?
Any help would be great, have just started my Certificate III trying to get my brain around it :)

Thanks,
Sarah

The reasons that you have come up with are all good ways to explain why non-mandatory information is collected. You could also include:

- add child's interests on the program
- fostering relationships between home and child care

Its also a great way to gather information such as languages spoken at home as well as parent profession. For other languages, you could include songs as part of your group time to include diversity and for parent profession you could ask them to come talk to the children about what they do. For e.g. one of the dads are in the army, so he came and gave an amy talk to the children...

You're on the right track!
