The enrolment form we provide for the parents to gather as much information about their child’s needs, interests, preferences and routines.
We provide them with the ‘Routine Form’ for the parent’s so we can make it easy for the child to stay in the same routine as home.

6. What communication strategies would you use? Why would these be appropriate to this family?
Open communication – It's so important for you to be having an open communication with parents about their children's developmental needs. Parents have a right to know what is happening with their child so if you have any behavioral issues or concerns with a child, talk to their parents. At times, it may seem like parents don't take the time to communicate with us. However it's our responsibility to build up the lines of communication. This can include: newsletters, personalized notes, child communication books, questionnaires, surveys, suggestion boxes etc.
Create a room notice board - This will allow you to share experiences and messages with families on a daily basis. You can add the weekly program, daily photos, children's birthdays, child / parent input of the program, newsletters and any messages or important information that you can share with the families at the centre. Just remember that all families will see this, so only provide general information that will benefit all families.
7. What would you do to establish a positive relationship with the child’s family?
Create a welcoming atmosphere – It's important to allow family members to participate freely in the center's activities. Invite family members to ask questions and to explore the centre. You can provide explanations about the activities and how they link to the program. Show the family member different projects that their child has participated in and any displays such as art that the child may have worked on.
Interact with the family during the centre events such as Easter concert, Christmas concert, Australia day etc.
8. What would you do to encourage the family to share their knowledge, skills, expertise and aspects of their family life and culture?
The service would encourage the family to share their knowledge, skills, expertise and aspects of the family life and culture by:
Celebrate their cultural day like celebrate the Diwali Day
Christmas Party – bring their cultural food
Family involve with the centre for example: Cooking play how they cook their food, reading storybook about their cultural and the way of life.

2. Research at least one external organisation in your community that can assist with, or be incorporated in, the positive parenting information in your service.
Develop an information flyer or brochure based on the organisation you have researched and ensure you detail what they do and how they can support families in your service. Please ensure the contact details are included so families can easily access the service.
3. Explain how you will ensure that the information that you are providing to families is current and remain current.

Imagine that you will need to set up an interview with Noeleen to discuss Callum’s behaviour and Susan the mother of the child who has been bitten. You may choose to simulate this scenario with another educator.
1. Describe the physical setting for each interview and how you have gone about setting up the environment to ensure it is warm and welcoming and an atmosphere to encourage open communication.
2. Discuss the reasons why you need the interviews and how you organized the interviews. (i.e. the aim)
