That's ridiculous... I'm absolutely mortified that they have done this... What happens now? Shouldn't it be the same as schools and LDC! Society is saying that the Childcare industry is in such high demand in the community however they end up doing this.. I'm shocked!!!

Hope to heavens the Coordination Unit is good in pulling in clients.

I just went through my books and 2/3 of my clients since I started have been from self advertising.

I really am going to have to give serious consideration to changing careers. Otherwise I'm left with

No choice of the market I target

No choice in the Families I choose in accept into my service

I lose my community connection.

Does this mean I can no long use sites like Care For kids etc to fill my vancancies?

I don't like the idea of someone else promoting 30+ carers (Nothing again my scheme personally)

How can they extoll the things that make MY service MINE?

No one 'sells' my business better than me.

My business plan is right out the door!

I guess the next step is for the Govt to put us all on a wage. I'd be happy with that. Since they do the advertising, they can do my accounts too. Collect the parents portion of the fees. Chase up the late accounts etc

ok Rant over

Hi all,

Had a good chat with Sue Perdriau (The President of the Family Day Care Carers’ Association of NSW Inc)
She assures me that the information passed on through my scheme is incorrect.

ACECQA should be the first place everyone checks to get information.

As long as you (The Educator for FDC purposes) "....make clear they are part of an approved service. Any advertisement should indicate which approved service they are promoting."

This is very bad news for parents that one good child care center is not available now. I know it is not right thing and I want know about the reason behind this all schema.

I want to know who these clever (said dripping with sarcasm) people are who sit around some boardroom table and think up these retarded rules!
This is the stupidest thing ever. You are providing a service to the community yet they will not let you advertise the fact...well then maybe all self employed people should be stopped from placing ads and having cards and signs promoting their businesses.

They cry out that we need more childcare in communities and then make decisions which may have a massive effect and decline in the number of children going to FDC because no one will know they are there.

Who can advertise an education and care service?

ACECQA and regulatory authorities have recently had

questions about whether services, particularly family day

care educators, can still advertise under the new National

Law and Regulations.

Anyone can advertise an approved education and care service without

breaking the Law. Under the Education and Care Services National Law Act

2010, Section 104(1):

A person must not knowingly publish or cause to be published an

advertisement for an education and care service unless it is an approved

education and care service.

The intent of Section 104(1) of the Law is to prevent unapproved education

and care services being advertised. Services that are approved may be

advertised.

Some family day care educators, in particular, were concerned that the Law

meant they couldn’t personally promote their service. However, the emphasis

in this section of the Law is on what is being advertised, rather than who is

doing the advertising.

A family day care educator can advertise their services if they make clear they

are part of an approved service. Any advertisement should indicate which

approved service they are promoting.

I understand and abide by the rules and regulations but I certainly don't like the supposition that if I don't put my scheme name and number on ALL of my advertising then I am doing something wrong or misrepresenting my service. It is MY advertising and MY money. I don't see the Scheme or FDCA paying part of my advertising.

It is to stop new childcare centres/FDC from advertising before they are open.

All you need to do is make sure you submit a service approval number BEFORE you begin advertising.

If you are already opperating then there is no issue to you advertising.

In your sitatuion I would look at the schemes which are close by so you can shop around for a new scheme. They can not stop you form advertising if you are already operating.

If you read section 104 of the National Law act there is no mention of you having to provide the schemes approval number or other details.
