Hello everybody?
I have a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and I would like to apply for a position as a kindy teacher in a daycare centre. I have taught Prep. year One, year two and three on a full time basis. I have been teaching for 12 years now and would like to get out of the education system because of the increasing, heavy workload. I recently enquired about a kindy teaching position that was advertised recently, however, they told me I need Early Childhood in a Daycare centre ( in Queensland) and that I would have to do a bridging course. As I have already done four years at Uni when I did my Bachelor of Education, I'm not that keen to do another year of study. I can't understand why a primary school teacher is allowed to teach Prep at a school level, however, not allowed to teach in a daycare setting considering there is only one year difference in the age levels. Surely there is a shorter bridging course (as one year is too much) in order to gain early childhood qualifications and also does anybody know if primary school teachers are allowed to work as kindy teacher in a Daycare Centre in Queensland.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
