Yes, the balance can be carried over to this year for what you didn't use previously.

Hi Lorina,

Checked with others said it depends on the employer and it should be stated in an employment contract. Does it true?

I thought I had signed, unfortunately I haven’t had a copy of that. By the way, one of my co-worker told me that sick leaves cannot carry over the next year.

Therefore, I get totally confused with my issue.

I would appreciate some advice.

Best regards

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

When in doubt go to Fair Work... safest and most reliable source of information...heheheh

It states the following:
How does paid sick and carer's leave accumulate?

Full-time and part-time employees accumulate sick and carer's leave during each year of employment. It starts accumulating from an employee's first day of work and is based on their ordinary hours of work.

The balance at the end of each year carries over to the next year.

For your reference: Paid Sick and Carers Leave

Hope this helps!
