What is extending learning?

Hello,

This is not really an assignment question, I'm not really sure what 'extending learning' means. I was wondering if someone could give me an example of what it means or a bit of information, as i am really confused.

Basically it's an activity/experience you could do with the child or group of children that will support and continue their understanding from what they are learning or interested in. So, for example: if you did a child observation on a child who was painting with primary colours for extending learning you can create an experience of the child mixing 2 primary colours together to create secondary colours (extending their learning).
