I need help for my interview for Child Care Assistant (Cert III) on next Monday.
I'm not too sure what kind of clothes I need to wear for my interview. Shall I wear T-shirt which is similiar with Child Care Assistant uniform?
Many thanks for help :)

Hi Emily,

When going to an interview it's important you make a good first impression. I would recommend you choose smart casual attire. So this means, basically black pants, a nice top and enclosed shoes. You don't want to wear something too casual however you want it to look smart. Also, you don't need to go overboard with makeup and jewelry, keep it simple.

Good Luck with your interview tomorrow!

Hope all goes well!!

We were always taught the '3 B's. dont show off your boobs, bum or belly!!! So no midriff tops, no plunging necklines and make sure your backside isn't showing over the top of low slung pants. Might sound obvious but you would be surprised what some people wear to interviews! LOL!
I would also suggest no over the top jewellery and the rest I agree totally with LA - black pants, smart top, closed in shoes.
Good luck :)

You don’t want to look to officey and neither too casual

Some nice pants ... flat shoes....nice blouse

Try and wear some colour, it’s childcare so I always try and wear something cheery rather than drab colours.

Tie hair back and no big jewellery

Cut nails short (child friendly) and make sure they are clean

If you have any piercings on your face I would remove them & try & cover up any visible tattoos if you have any.

You want to look professional yet casual. I have even gone to interview in jeans (nice ones though, no rips etc!) and a nice top and sandals and it’s been fine.

Good Luck with it

"3 B's" thats funy.. lol. I am gonna use that one...

hi emilyl, I guess the others have covered pretty much all you need to know. Just wear what you are comfortable with and dont try too hard with your clothing. It is important to look smart than shabby. Also you dont want to dress up like you are going to a night club. Dressing for an interview is only part of it. Your mannerism, your approach and your body language is more important to make a good first impression. So good luck!

The director said they appointed another applicant who had more experience of caring for special needs children.

That's a shame, but understandable. Better luck next time.
