Just to confirm, have you completed the Cert 3 units of the Diploma qualification?

Great! So you should be paid as a Cert 3 qualified educator which is Level 3.1.

On commencing your cert 3 qualification your full time pay rate starts at $20.61/per hour full time...

Thank you! I haven't been paid correctly at all then - am I best off going to Fair Work Australia?

I would contact Fair Work Australia - you could email them so you got a record of their response. Tell them that you are currently studying a Diploma qualification and would like to know your pay rate... Once you have their response, approach your Director with this information as well as the "actively working towards" information and see what they say. If you are not happy with your Director's response then you can take the matter to Fair Work.

I just remembered I had contacted Fair Work on exactly the same question you had asked.

This is my question:
ACECQA has "actively working towards qualification" if you meet the requirements. If you are working in the centre while studying your Diploma and finished the cert 3 course units that enables you to be counted towards a Diploma for ratio purposes what wage should you receive? Is it Level 4A - since you have not completed a qualification but you are doing the Diploma level role within the centre? Or are you paid as a cert 3 (Level 3.1) since you have completed those core units? Please advise! Thanks! --Lorina

This is their answer:
From the information you have provided your pay point would be Level 3.1 for a certificate 3 holder, until the diploma is completed, once completed you would have the ability to move up to Level 4A.

Kind regards.

Hope this helps!
